The workshops of CORO, the
project that aims to tell the story of the city of Novara through the stories
of its inhabitants, have begun. The workshops are completely free of charge and
involve participants of all ages in a journey in search of the social and urban
changes that have taken place in Novara over the last hundred years.
The work began with four meetings
in February at the Casa di Giorno Don Aldo Mercoli, where our operators
interviewed the guests of the facility about their work experiences and about
Novara in the past, its production activities, meeting places and entertainment.
We thus collected extraordinary stories, not only of trades that have now
disappeared, but also of life experiences, memories, anecdotes and advice on
how to approach a world, such as that of work, that does not give discounts.
Now the project continues in
workshop form with some thirty citizens and aims to accompany participants in
the transformation of their story from narrative to performance, through the
main elements of theatre: body, rhythm, voice. In this way, we want to combine
theatre with the concept of the 'city', giving its inhabitants the opportunity
to tell the story of the area through their own eyes, mending its rifts and
acting as a hinge between the past and the future.
The workshops began in mid-March
and ended at the end of May, in the renovated space at Via Chinotto 16, on
Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursdays with the students of
the Istituto Tecnico Industriale Omar and the Liceo Artistico Casorati in the
spaces of the Istituto Omar from 3 to 5 p.m.
